Two of my favorite types of games are Zombie Survival, and Sandbox, so I decided to attempt and combine the two. Now, this idea would either be a massive win, or completely bomb, so it would be a risk taker actually taking time and money to develop this, without making a name for ourselves first.
I have not come up with any background story, or how the outbreak happened, or anything like that yet.
I envisioned this as a console mainly game, made for multiplayer co-op with like 8-12 players. I have not come up with any idea for a single player, but i suppose it could be just like a multiplayer lobby, just a bit easier. but a campaign should really be implemented somehow, maybe the campaign could lead to vanity items for multiplayer or something, but the main enjoyment from this game will be from multiplayer lobbies.
The combat is a bit like dead rising, picking up random items on the ground used as weapons, to defend against the hordes. of course stronger weapons will be availible in harder areas, as each night gets harder.
The objective, is to survive, and create a stronghold for you, and your allies to live. you do this by gathering resources for food and water, and also gathering resources to make barricades, and walls, and different structures after awhile.
The zombie will behave like highschool of the dead zombies, and react to sound, but, as one zombie hears you, he emits a sound that makes the surrounding zombies follow him. zombies also have a very wide radius of hearing, considering their other senses are dead.
The players start seperated, at random places on the map, and the first objective of course is to find eachother. Each player starts with food, water, and a shortwave radio, which is how you find eachother. as players get closer, a tiny indicator in the corner goes off, showing your picking up signal, the closer you get the better. If you have amic, you will hear slight static, and you can start to talk to the other person, if you are far out you will cut in and out, as your signal gets better so will communication. Later on, you can upgrade the radios to be able to communicate with anyone, anywhere, and vice-versa.
Other then the players, there are also 3 helpful NPC's that you can locate, the Builder, Gatherer, and Guard. Instead of you having to build, stop, defend from an attack...etc. you can tell the command to him using the builder interface, and protect him. if he is attacked you can configure his AI to run, continue building until dead, or fight back witht he weapon you give him. The gatherer gathers random materials, and brings them back to base when his inventory is full, and keep going, you can configure his AI as well. The Guard, can be set to guard a specific player, NPC, or patrol around the base for zombies. Each NPC can recieve training, for instance the builder has faster build time, the gatherer has increased inventory space and speed, and the guard is cautious, so he doesent alert zombies all the time.
The maps are randomly generated, as are buildings, and vehicles.
If you die, you become an Abomination, which is like a zombiex20, and attempt to kill the players you were allies with. an NPC will just become a normal zombie. If you die as an Abomination, you become a spirit, that loses communication with the players, but cans still adie them, and talk to toehr spirits. spirts can help barricades stay strong for a brief amount of time, giving players more time, or they can make the light shine on a certain area, to alert players of nearby helpful resources. They are invulnerable. the spirits are basically spectators, but still have little things they can do to help.
Better weapons, can be found in more densely zombie populated cities, so taking the risk is worth it. |
